Glad Tidings Church of God provides support to several local programs to reach the local, regional and worldwide community. These include:
PELHAM CARES:
This is an organization of volunteers delivering social services within the community to those in need. Special emphasis is placed on those services not provided by any government subsidized group. Like emergency food, transportation and Christmas Care Baskets.
OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD:
Our congregation has been filling shoe boxes for the Operation Christmas Child, a program of Samaritan's Purse, for several years during October and November. We need shoeboxes! They usually need to be filled and ready by the middle of November.
LORD'S HARVEST INTERNATIONAL:
Lord's Harvest International (LHI) is a Church of God agency headquartered in Oregon, Illinois, to provide support to International Mission and Teaching Fields in Russia, Mexico, India, Malawi, Peru and the Philippines. Our local congregation contributes to the support of these programs through LHI.
CHURCH BUILDERS LEAGUE:
The local congregation is an organizational member of the Church Builders League sponsored by the General Conference to assist member churches with new construction, additions and remodeling projects.
TAPE MINISTRY:
Audio tapes of the sermons are available through the Tape Ministry. Some video tapes are also available.
THE GIDEONS INTERNATIONAL IN CANADA:
This organization is generously supported by pastors and Christian friends who realize that the essential element in winning people to Christ is to present them with the gospel message as it is contained in the Bible itself. Donations are used to make it possible for others to have their very own copies of God's Word. Gifts to The Gideons assist thousands of Christians who volunteer their time and services in distributing the Scriptures in more than 170 countries of the world.
MEALS ON WHEELS:
From time-to-time our congregation supplies volunteers to deliver hot meals to seniors. Voluneers receive training educational opportunities, and mileage is reimbursed. For more information, please call 1-905-788-3181.
MORE OPPORTUNITIES from the Community Services Department:
Volunteers are required for a variety of activities at both the Woodlands of Sunset and D. H. Rapelje Lodge Home for the Aged. A couple of hours of your time once a week or even once a month can make an incredible difference to the residents' quality of life. For more information regarding these opportunities, please call Sylvia Bleyswyk (Co-ordinator of Volunteers) at Woodlands: 892-3845, Ext. 249, or D. H. Rapelje Lodge, 714-7428, Ext. 249.
